A polycotton tent should be weathered before use. We have made guide how to weather your tent.

Over time, UV exposure and general use will wear away the DWR treatment, reducing the tent’s water resistance.

We recommend reapplying a DWR treatment, such as Fabsil Universal Protector, at regular intervals:

For 2–3 weeks of use per year: reapply every 2 years.

For 3–5 weeks of use per year: reapply annually.

To apply the DWR effectively:

Use a weed sprayer for fast and even application.

Ensure the temperature is around 20–22°C (room temperature) during application to allow proper curing.

Also reapply DWR to:

1. All webbing (e.g., pegging points, guyline attachment points)

2. Zippers (especially the fabric holding the teeth)

3. Storm straps

Guide to Using Seam Sealer:

  • Locate where the water is leaking and dry the area.
  • Apply seam sealer to the tape where the leak is.
  • If the tape is loose, use the seam sealer to glue it back to the flysheet.
  • Use the brush to apply the seam sealer evenly.
  • Allow it to dry for 24 hours before using the tent again.

We recommend using Outwell Seam Grip WP – Seam Sealer.
